For the Tanzania Lishe (Nutrition) Project funded by USAID, Chemonics is hiring finance interns. The five-year project is to improve food and health market systems that encourage a variety of stakeholders in the targeted regions of Tanzania to adopt habits related to optimal nutrition. We are looking for people who are passionate about improving people’s lives all across the world. Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam will serve as the interns’ home base for finance.

Applicants must be recent graduates from recognized universities with degrees in finance, accounting, business management, or a similar discipline. As they work with the finance team of an international development company, the finance interns will put the knowledge they have learned throughout their undergraduate studies to use in developing their financial management abilities and gaining real-world experience. As assigned, the finance interns will help the finance team with a range of secretarial and accounting duties. The Project Accountant will oversee the Finance Interns.

Important duties:

  • Examine and confirm the documentation proving the transaction.
  • Verify that the published GJ files are properly organized by scanning, renaming, or renaming them, and then adding them to the Project’s financial folder on SharePoint.
  • Help with managing the accounts receivable.
  • In the Finance Payment Tracker, update it.
  • Examine participant payment packets, then upload the supporting paperwork.
  • Input transactions into the accounting program for the project.


  • A bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting, finance, or a similar field. It is possible to obtain a bachelor’s degree no more than two years prior.
  • Strong English communication skills both in writing and speaking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and other computer programs.
  • Capacity to operate both alone and together in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, job prioritizing, and organizing abilities.
